As a Partner of the law firm, Marco A. Sotomayor is responsible for the areas of securities and financial law. His work is also strongly oriented toward corporate and real estate law. He specializes in restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, project financing, various financing vehicles, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and contractual schemes between shareholders, among other things. He has served as a consultant to companies in the hydrocarbons and real estate sectors, as well as various companies engaged in the steel and pharmaceutical industries.
He was involved in the internal corporate restructuring of one of the partners of the "Los Ramones" project for the development, construction and operation of the natural gas transmission system, an operation worth around two billion dollars. He has represented various private American funds in the development of industrial parks in the north of the country. He participated in various projects which included the Bond Issue for the State of Nuevo Leon; a Bond Issue for the securitization of assets known as Plaza Fiesta San Agustín; consulting on corporate structuring for participation in the bidding process for contracts in the Burgos Basin; advising foreign banks in relation to structuring the granting of guarantees based on contracts associated with PEMEX and the Federal Electricity Commission, among others.
He was an associate at Thompson & Knight and at Ríos Zertuche, González Lutteroth y Rodríguez, S.C.
He earned his Law Degree at the "Universidad de Monterrey" and completed the D-1 Business Management Program at the Instituto Panamericano de Alta Dirección de EmpresaI (IPADE), as well as the program on the Legal System of the United States given by Capital University.
