Dana I. Paredes is Of Counsel to Rodríguez Dávalos Abogados with over 15 years of experience. She specializes in consulting on legal matters in the energy field with a strong focus on Corporate Law, Administrative Law and Economic Competition. She has participated in many projects relating to the distribution, transmission and storage of natural gas, including compression and decompression; liquefaction and regasification of natural gas; permits for the storage, transmission and distribution of compressed and/or liquefied natural gas. She has also participated in the preparation and procurement of permits for cogeneration, self-supply and own use of electricity from the Energy Regulatory Commission and has also participated in the development of renewable energy generation projects. She has worked on public bids and on supply, transmission and interconnection contracts with Pemex.
She has extensive knowledge of the regulatory framework. She has actively assisted in the process of creating legal systems applicable to the energy field, such as: the Hydrocarbons Law; Regulation of Activities to which Title III of the Hydrocarbons Law refers; the Energy Regulatory Commission Law; Regulation of Natural Gas; and Guidelines on natural gas, etc.
During her previous work experience, Dana was a consultant on legal matters at the Department of Energy Policy at the Ministry of Energy ("Secretaría de Energía" or SENER). She is a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators ("AIPN") and is Assistant Secretary of the Mexican Natural Gas Association ("Asociación Mexicana de Gas Natural").
Dana obtained her Law Degree at the Universidad Iberoamericana, where she graduated with honors. She completed the Executive Training Program in the Energy Sector at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico or "ITAM") as well as various seminars given by Cambridge Energy Research Associates.
