José A. Martínez is Of Counsel at Rodríguez Dávalos Abogados. He has a robust experience providing legal advice to lead and coordinate efforts and expertise of different strategic players to execute and successfully complete energy projects in Mexico.
Since 2000, he has collaborated with Jesús Rodríguez providing legal advice to Independent Power Producers, Natural Gas Transporters, Local Distribution Companies and some other companies involved in the sector. In a previous working experience (1993 to 2000), he was legal advisor at Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), position in which he was in charge of developing infrastructure projects, cross-border pipelines, international trade and long-term supply agreements. He also advised Pemex on information technology projects. He joined the firm in January 2, 2017.
He earned his law degree with honors at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (National University of Mexico or UNAM). José received his LL.M (Masters in Law) on International Energy Transactions at the University of Houston. He has post-graduate studies at Georgetown University and the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM). Pemex and the UNAM awarded his thesis work: “Legal Framework of the Petrochemical Industry”.
He has been Energy Law professor at the Universidad Iberoamericana and Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM).
